CENTRE FOR GENDER JUSTICE AND CHILD RIGHTS

 

The Centre for Gender Justice and Child Rights is an interdisciplinary centre for research, social-outreach and resource building. The Centre conducts outstanding research on a broad spectrum of approaches towards understanding gender and sexuality and on child rights laws, policies and practices in India. 


The Centre has been established with an aim of becoming a knowledge hub to facilitate research and training by working to acknowledge gender rights, challenging normative constructions of gender and sexuality, and advocating to strengthen the child rights laws in India. The Centre strives to promote legal awareness and consciousness at the grassroots level. The Centre also provides legal assistance to persons in need.


 OBJECTIVES

  • Promoting gender and child as a priority concern in development planning and implementation. 
  • Development of knowledge hub to facilitate research and training. 
  • Undertaking studies related to livelihoods, women empowerment and various other areas through the gender lens.
    Improving access to justice for children in areas of juvenile justice, child labour, gender justice, education and trafficking. 
  • Strengthening law, policy and governance to improve gender and child rights situation.  
  • To enhance experiential learning by conducting extensive fieldwork and research for evidence-based advocacy.
  • To provide legal assistance.
